Pacha at Children’s Hospital & Research Center of Oakland

dave Pacha's Pajamas

On April 3rd, we had the privilege of bringing our Pacha Pajama’s band, story and inspiration to Children’s Hospital & Research Center of Oakland (CHRCO). Pacha’s story was interwoven with our pop, hip-hop and R&B songs, as well as popular cover songs including “One Love” by Bob Marley and “Lean On Me” by Bill Withers. Children were encouraged to participate through listening, moving and singing along to the music. Children were dancing in the hall by the end.

Katie Craft, Child Life Specialist at CHRCO said “We really enjoyed having the Pacha’s Pajamas band come and provide music to our patients.” There was about a dozen patients in the audience and the entire performance was broadcast closed circuit throughout the 190 bed facility. We also provided CHRCO with 520 Pacha’s Pajamas albums and 10 Pacha’s Pajamas books for Child Life to give to inpatients.

The mother of another patient was visibly moved by the performance. “This was such a great opportunity for the kids to have in this place. It gives us hope and allows children to express themselves creatively while being in an environment that seems cold and scary – it touched my heart.”

The visit and donations were sponsored by A Forever Recovery and Best Drug Rehabilitation.
